Solid wood takes centre stage in this product, inspired by northern European style. The visible frame consists of fourteen solid wood slats in a parallel formation, resembling the shape of a hamper. This structure holds the upholstered seat, back and arms. The nature of the wood therefore goes hand in hand with comfort, in a design solution with a strong visual impact.
Its become one of Ercol Furniture best loved vintage pieces and has enjoyed a huge revival in interest over the last four or five years. I heard tell it was going to be re-issued in collaboration with Designers Guild - seems like a pretty good marriage to me .
If you like Mid-Century modern, you'll love this sofa. I'm impressed how this teal blue adds a little color too. I'm not usually one for color in my furniture but if it's one piece and a timeless piece at that, I think it's safe. It does come in many other colors (gray shown below as well). I like the shape of this sofa, it's modern but not too modern for that want a little more than just clean lines, this one has curve appeal for sure.
